CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Jenny Kosek at 4:05 p.m. B. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. 18-00135 Minutes (draft) February 14, 2018 Attachments: 2-14-18 Draft Minutes A motion was made by Mr. Nazer, seconded by Ms. Hart, that the minutes be approved. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 5- Ms. Fonaas, Mr. Gracyalny, Ms. Hart, Mr. Nazer, and Mr. Noll No: 0 D. NEW AND PREVIOUS MATTERS 2. 18-00136 Financial Report - Devan Gracyalny, Vice Chair/Treasurer. Mr. Gracyalny reported that as of 2/16/18, the balance on hand is $6, 207.46. Mr. Gracyalny also reported that Rebecca Grill, City Administrator, said the Tourism Commission has approved a grant of $1,750.00 for Settler’s Weekend. This puts donations to Settler’s Weekend over $3,000.00 to date and qualifies for a matching grant of $3,000.00 from the Community Improvement Foundation. A motion was made by Mr. Noll, seconded by Ms. Fonaas, that the Financial Report be approved. MATTERS FOR DISCUSSION/ACTION 3. 18-00137 Report from the West Allis Historical Society. City of West Allis Page 1 Printed on 4/18/2018 Historical Commission Meeting Minutes March 14, 2018 Mr. Gracyalny updated the committee that Mark Ellington was approved as a new board member for the Historical Society and that there is still one more board position open. He also mentioned that the Society will open the Museum for the Log Schoolhouse Rededication on May 16th. 4. 18-00138 Status Reports - Historical Commission Projects and Activities A. Log Schoolhouse City Carpenter, Tom Kaefisch will be repairing the electric meter cover. Mr. Kaefish also suggested that the City painter look at the southside windows for possible touch up painting before the May 16th event. The Log Schoolhouse will re-open to the public mid April. Mr. Gracyalny will touch base with Shaun Mueller to see if the log cabin consultant for log restoration was contacted. B. Seneca Station Nothing to report. C. Settlers Weekend A Settlers Weedend committee meeting will be held on Monday, March 26, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. at Jeannette Bell's home. D. Historic Preservation Grant Discussion was tabled until Shaun Mueller returns. E. Social Media Updates Ms. Kosek reports progress has been made on the Historical Society webpage and should be live by May 1st. 5. 18-00139 Log Cabin Rededication - 20 Years. Discussion ensued relative to a new ordinance for the use of city parks. Mr. Gracyalny will coordinate with Brenda Schmid, at the City Yards, to secure a permit for the May 16th event and the August 24 thru 27th Settlers Weekend event. Ms. Kosek reports invitations to the May 16th event will be mailed out the week of March 26th. Mr. Gracyalny checked with Bev’s Hospitality Catering (8223 W. Becher St.), formerly River’s Edge, for a hot & cold hors d’oeuvres price. There is also a possibility that Westallion Brewery’s Honey Creek Log Cabin School Ale will be served, with a possible wine donation by Corvina, and/or the West Allis Cheese and Saugage Shoppe. Jane’s Popcorn, located at 2942 S. 108th St., will also be asked for a possible donation of popcorn to serve. Discussion ensued about a possible donation of an appetizer from Tall Guy & A Grill Catering. City of West Allis Page 2 Printed on 4/18/2018 Historical Commission Meeting Minutes March 14, 2018 Mr. Gracyalny will arrange with the City yards for pickup & delivery of a Stage Coach, and tables and chairs in the gazebo for the event. Mike Rushmer, Forestry Supervisor, was also notified of the date. F.
