City of West Allis Meeting Minutes Historical Commission Wednesday, April 11, 2018 4:05 PM City Hall, Room 128 7525 W. Greenfield Ave. REGULAR MEETING A. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Jenny Kosek at 4:05 p.m. B. ROLL CALL Present 4- Ms. Sarah Fonaas, Mr. Devan Gracyalny, Mr. Ray Nazer, and Mr. John Noll Excused 3- Mayor Dan Devine, Ms. Barbara Hart, and Ms. Patricia Wolfe Others Attending Shaun Mueller, Senior Planner Jenny Kosek, Communications Strategist C. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. 18-00189 Minutes (draft) March 14, 2018 Attachments: 3-14-18 Draft Minutes A motion was made by Mr. Nazer, seconded by Ms. Fonaas, that the minutes of the March 14, 2018 meeting be Approved.. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 4- Ms. Fonaas, Mr. Gracyalny, Mr. Nazer, and Mr. Noll No: 0 D. NEW AND PREVIOUS MATTERS 2. 18-00190 Financial Report - Devan Gracyalny, Vice Chair/Treasurer. Mr. Gracyalny reported that as of 4/9/18, the balance on hand is $6,277.46. It was also reported that Ms. Hart received ad donations from the Lion's Club. A motion was made by Mr. Nazer, seconded by Mr. Noll, that the Financial Report be Approved.. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 4- Ms. Fonaas, Mr. Gracyalny, Mr. Nazer, and Mr. Noll No: 0 E. MATTERS FOR DISCUSSION/ACTION 3. 18-00191 Report from the West Allis Historical Society. The West Allis Historical Society is working on applying for a Special Event License to serve liquor for the 20th Anniversary Log School Celebration. City of West Allis Page 1 Printed on 5/17/2018 Historical Commission Meeting Minutes April 11, 2018 4. 18-00192 Status Reports - Historical Commission Projects and Activities. A. Log Schoolhouse Work is complete on the repair of the electric meter cover. Public Works is looking into rerouting the drain pipe coming off the furnace at the Log School. Ms. Kosek reported that five (5) people have RSVP'd to the Log Schoolhouse Rededication on May 16th. Mr. Mueller will be putting in a work order with Public Works to replace some of the lights in the Log Schoolhouse. In addition, Mr. Mueller with also set up an appointment with Damien Slaske, log cabin consultant for log restoration. B. Seneca Station Nothing to report. C. Settlers Weekend Mr. Nazer reported that he will be ordering the tent on May 1st, and Mr. Gracyalny reported receiving an estimate for the ice. D. Historic Preservation Grant Mr. Mueller reported that he spoke to Joe DeRose of the WI Historical Society. Mr. DeRose indicated the grant program has been funded for 2018. Letters of intent for the grant are due by September 28, 2018. E. Social Media Updates It was suggested that we let Laura Temke, Health Department, know that a lap top is needed for the Residential Homeowners Resource Fair to be held on Wednesday, April 18. 5. 18-00193 Log Cabin Rededication - 20 Years. Mr. Gracyalny is getting the beer, wine and popcorn for the event. Table dimensions also need to be obtained. F.
