City of West Allis Meeting Minutes Historical Commission Wednesday, July 11, 2018 4:01 PM City Hall, Room 128 7525 W. Greenfield Ave. REGULAR MEETING A. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Mr. Gracyalny, Vice Chair, at 4:01 p.m. B. ROLL CALL Present 5- Ms. Sarah Fonaas, Mr. Devan Gracyalny, Mr. Ray Nazer, Mr. John Noll, and Ms. Patricia Wolfe Excused 2- Mayor Dan Devine, and Ms. Barbara Hart Others Attending Shaun Mueller, Senior Planner Jenny Kosek, Communications Strategist C. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. 18-00412 Minutes (draft) June 13, 2018 Attachments: 6-13-18 Minutes A motion was made by Mr. Gracyalny, seconded by Ms. Wolfe, that the minutes of the June 13, 2018 meeting be Approved. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 5- Ms. Fonaas, Mr. Gracyalny, Mr. Nazer, Mr. Noll, and Ms. Wolfe No: 0 D. NEW AND PREVIOUS MATTERS 2. Financial Report - Devan Gracyalny, Vice Chair/Treasurer Mr. Gracyalny reported that as of July 11, 2018, the balance on hand is $11,415.17. This amount includes the $3,000 matching grant from the West Allis Community Improvement Foundation. A motion was made by Mr. Noll, seconded by Mr. Nazer, that the Financial Report be Approved. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 5- Ms. Fonaas, Mr. Gracyalny, Mr. Nazer, Mr. Noll, and Ms. Wolfe No: 0 E. MATTERS FOR DISCUSSION/ACTION 3. Report from the West Allis Historical Society The Historical Society now has an old Harley Davidson bike on display. The Society is seeking approval to rent golf carts for Settlers Weekend. Status Reports - Historical Commission Projects and Activities. A. Log Schoolhouse Mr. Mueller reported that the Public Works Department has addressed the bee issue at the Log Schoolhouse. B. Seneca Station Nothing to report. C. Settlers Weekend On June 25, 2018, a subcommittee meeting was held at Ms. Mikolajewski's house. A list of requested checks & money must be turned in to Barb Burkee, Development Department, by August 1st to allow time for processing. National Night Out will be held on July 23rd and it was suggested that the Settlers Weekend have a presence at the event. Lastly, Mr. Nazer will call the Diggers Hotline a few days before the event to flag the utilities for the tent stakes. D. Historic Preservation Grant Various potential properties were discussed for consideration. Mr. Mueller stated that he would contact an Historic Preservation Consultant to narrow down the properties. E. Social Media Updates The website should be live within 24 hours. Mr. Gracyalny reported that he will be giving a talk at the Village at Manor Park. F. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to discuss, a motion was made by Mr. Gracyalny, seconded by Ms. Fonaas to adjourn the meeting at 4:50 p.m. The motion carried unanimously.
