REGULAR MEETING
A. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Devine, Chair at 4:08 p.m.
B. ROLL CALL
Present 7- Mayor Dan Devine, Barbara Hart, Sarah Fonaas, Devan Gracyalny, Ray Nazer, John
Noll, and Patricia Wolfe

Alderperson Roadt; Shaun Mueller, Development Project Manager; and Ms. Lois Pocian,

C. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
1. 21-0194 March 11, 2020 (draft) Minutes
Attachments: 3-11-20 (draft) Minutes
A motion was made by Ms. Hart, seconded by Ms. Wolfe, that the minutes of the
March 11, 2020 meeting be Approved. The motion carried by the following vote:
Aye: 7- Mayor Devine, Hart, Fonaas, Gracyalny, Nazer, Noll, and Wolfe
No: 0
D. NEW AND PREVIOUS MATTERS
2. 21-0195 Consideration relative to the Financial Report for the period ending 5/11/21
presented by Devan Gracyalny, Vice Chair/Treasurer
Mr. Gracyalny reported the state of the budget to the committee, and that the current
balance on hand is $6,260.87.
A motion was made by Ms. Hart, seconded by Ms. Wolfe, that the Financial
Report be Approved. The motion carried by the following vote:
Aye: 7- Mayor Devine, Hart, Fonaas, Gracyalny, Nazer, Noll, and Wolfe

E. MATTERS FOR DISCUSSION/ACTION
3. 21-0196 Report from the West Allis Historical Society
A CDBG Grant was received to replace the doors at the Historical Society building. The
contractor has been at the site and is putting together plans and an estimate.

4. 21-0197 Status Reports - Historical Commission Projects and Activities
A. Log Schoolhouse
Mr. Gracyalny reported that there are maintenance issues and a few wooden shingles
need to be replaced.
B. Seneca Station
In the near future, a cleaning date will need to be scheduled.
C. Social Media Updates
At this time, there was nothing to report.
5. 21-0198 Planning for the 2021 Beer Garden Events scheduled on the Historical
Society grounds/Honey Creek Park
The 2021 Beer Garden Events will begin on May 28th from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and
will continue on the following dates: June 26, July 10, August 7, August 28, and
September 17, for a total of 6 dates.
These dates are held on Saturdays except for September 17th, which is a Friday.
The log cabin and museum will be open for these events.
6. 21-0199 Discussion regarding the design and contracting for the new doors on the
Historical Society building, funded through Community Development Block
Grant (CDBG) funds
This matter was discussed as part of Item #3.
7. 21-0200 Discussion regarding restarting the Log Schoolhouse Field Trips for the
West Allis-West Milwaukee School District for the 2022 school year
Mr. Mueller stated that he will work with the Communications Department to publicize the
Log Schoolhouse Field Trips to encourage WA-WM schools to schedule visits in the fall
of 2021, school year.
8. 21-0201 Discussion regarding potential maintenance items and improvements at
the Honey Creek Cemetery
Some matters which were discussed by the committee included a kickoff meeting should
be held to discuss a potential plan as well as a possible Cemetery Subcommittee
formed.
Alderperson Roadt asked if there was COVID money available to help with these
expenses?
Discussion ensued regarding obtaining help from the Communications Department to get
the word out regarding the maintenance items and improvements needed at the
Cemetery. It was also noted to follow the Dog Park 'playbook', which had been
successful.

Lois Pocian, member of the public, stated that she has set up a Go Fund Me page with a
goal of raising $10,000. Also discussed was a Road Map as to how to go about the
process. Mr. Gracyalny indicated that this needs to be a slow process.
F. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the committee, a motion was made by
Mr. Nazer and seconded by Ms. Hart to adjourn the meeting at 4:49 p.m. The motion
carried unanimously.

individual(s) must be scheduled (as an appearance) with the chair of the committee or the appropriate staff contact; otherwise, the
meeting of the committee is a working session for the committee itself, and discussion by those in attendance is limited to committee
members, the mayor, other alderpersons, staff and others that may be a party to the matter being discussed.
