C. DISCUSSION ITEMS
1. 2017-0166 Discussion regarding recycling and garbage collection issues.
The Director of Public Works updated the Committee on the recycling and garbage collection
contracts. Advance Disposal and Groot are no longer being considered for a number of reasons.
We are still waiting for final costs/fees from Milwaukee, which has been frustrating.
Representatives from John’s Disposal were in attendance and answered questions from the
Committee. They also explained their proposal. The Development Department met with West
Allis Salvage to review funding options with them. Public Works will be testing a full day’s
recycling dump on Thursday to allow West Allis Salvage to determine if they can handle our
recyclables without new equipment.
The Board directed that the ordering of recycling carts be delayed until more information is
obtained and reviewed.
This matter was Discussed.
