REGULAR MEETING WEST HAVEN BOARD OF POLICE COMMISSIONERS January 03, 2017 The regular meeting of the West Haven Board of Police Commissioner was held on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 7:00PM at the Police Headquarters, 200 Saw Mill Rd. West Haven Present were Commissioner Raymond Collins, Paul Butler, Jr., Andrew Giaquinto, Deborah Wright, and Keith Sweeney. Also present were Chief John Karajanis, Jr. and Deputy Chief Joseph Perno. Absent was Dave Russell, City Liaison. After the Pledge of Allegiance, Chairperson Collins called the meeting to order at 7:00PM 1. Minutes of November 1, 2016 A motion was presented by Commissioner Wright to accept the Minutes of December 20, 2016. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Sweeney and approved unanimously. 2. Public Input Since no one from the public came forth, public session was closed at 7:01. 3. Communication None 4. Report of the Chief Since the last commissioner meeting, Chief Karajanis attended the graduation at Central Connecticut State University of three officers. Retired Officer Terry Gilbert and State Rep Ferraro connected with Chief Karajanis in order to talk about a new project on gun safety laws that they are working on. Chief Karajanis also wanted to inform the Commissioners about a meeting that he was going to be arranging with all the church leaders from the West Haven and possibly surrounding area, and will notify the commissioner if they want to be in attendance. 5. Pension Board 7.1 Request for Disability Retirement – Bret Schneider Commissioner Sweeney motioned to approve the request for disability retirement for Bret Schneider, commissioner Butler seconded the motion, and it was approved unanimously. 8. Report of Committees – Personal Committee None 9. Commissioner Reports Commissioner Wright communicated that she saw the thank you notes from Cindy and Diane, and Carla sent her a thank you note for everyone as well. 10.
