REGULAR MEETING WEST HAVEN BOARD OF POLICE COMMISSIONERS January 17, 2017 The regular meeting of the West Haven Board of Police Commissioner was held on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 7:00PM at the Police Headquarters, 200 Saw Mill Rd. West Haven Present were Commissioner Raymond Collins, Paul Butler, Jr., Deborah Wright, and Keith Sweeney. Also present were Chief John Karajanis, Jr. and Deputy Chief Joseph Perno. Absent were Andrew Giaquinto and Dave Russell, City Liaison. After the Pledge of Allegiance, Chairperson Collins called the meeting to order at 7:00PM. 1. Minutes of January 03, 2017 A motion was presented by Commissioner Butler to accept the Minutes of January 03, 2017. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Wright and approved unanimously. 2. Public Input Since no one from the public came forth, public session was closed at 7:01. 3. Report of the Chief Chief Karajanis had a meeting with the Chief of Police and several officers at the University of New Haven in regards to an active shooter response. Chief Karajanis stated that the UNH police are looking to adopt WHPD’s signal 300. Chief Karajanis is currently coordinating with them and working to get that up and running. WHPD also hosted South Central’s chief of police for a wellness-training program. Chief Karajanis also attended the mayor’s department head meeting. 5. Old Business None 6. New Business None 7. Pension Board Commissioner Wright had the Flash report and the Flash report was circulated for everyone to see. Commissioner Wright also mentioned that Dave Moran would be coming in for the next meeting in order to talk about the report in depth. 8. Report of Committees – Personal Committee None 9. Commissioner Reports None 10. Executive Session Commissioner Sweeney motioned to go into executive session, seconded by Commissioner Wright, and approved unanimously at 7:06PM.
