Page 1 of 2 The regular meeting of the Mayor and Council was held in the Council room of West Point City Hall June 11, 2018 at 5:30 P.M. with Mayor Steven M. Tramell presiding. Members Present: Members Absent: Mayor Pro-Tem Sandra Thornton Councilmember Joseph R. Downs III Councilmember Alanteo “Henry” Hutchinson Councilmember Gerald W. Ledbetter Councilmember Gloria R. Marshall Councilmember Benjamin F. Wilcox Mayor Tramell called Councilmember Gerald W. Ledbetter for opening prayer. Mayor Tramell led the Pledge of allegiance. Mayor Tramell called the meeting of the Council to order and welcomed everyone. MINUTES Mayor Tramell asked for a motion to approve the minutes from the May 14, 2018 regular meeting. Councilmember Gerald W. Ledbetter made said motion and was seconded by Councilmember Gloria R. Marshall; the minutes were approved unanimously without change. FINANCIAL REPORT Councilmember Gerald W. Ledbetter presented the May financial report with the June cash position and forecast and made a motion to accept the report; motion seconded by Councilmember Gloria R. Marshall and passed unanimously. AGENDA Mayor Tramell asked for a motion to approve the agenda. Councilmember Sandra Thornton made said motion and seconded by Councilmember Gerald W. Ledbetter and passed unanimously. 1 Page 2 of 2 RETIREMENT RESOLUTION FOR Mr. THOMAS SCOTT Mayor Tramell read a resolution and presented it to Thomas Eugene Scott. Thomas is retiring with over thirty years of service with the City of West Point. The Mayor and Council thanked Mr. Scott for his service to the City and citizens of West Point. RETIREMENT RESOLUTION FOR Mr. JAMES ‘FOOT’ HALL Mayor Tramell read a resolution and presented it to James Hall. James is retiring with over Forty Years of credited service. The Mayor and Council thanked Mr. Hall for his service to the City and the Citizens of West Point. AMEND SIGN ORDINANCE Councilmember Gloria R. Marshall made a motion to amend the City of West Point sign regulations of the zoning ordinance of the city so as to identify, define and regulate signage within interstate 85 commercial sign nodes. The motion was seconded by Councilmember Benjamin F. Wilcox; passed unanimously AMEND ZONING ORDINANCE Councilmember Sandra Thornton made a motion to amend the zoning ordinance to authorize trucks stops and fueling centers as a permitted use in the General Commercial District. The motion was seconded by Councilmember Gloria R. Marshall; passed unanimously. AMEND ZONING ORDINANCE Councilmember Benjamin F. Wilcox made a motion to amend the zoning ordinance of the City of West Point to allow boarding or rooming houses as a permitted use within the R-2 Multifamily dwelling district and to modify the zoning ordinance definition of family. The motion was seconded by Councilmember Gerald W. Ledbetter; passed unanimously. OTHER ADJOURN Mayor Tramell asked for a motion to adjourn. Councilmember Gloria R. Marshall made said motion and seconded by Councilmember Henry Hutchinson; passed unanimously.
