Westminster Tree Commission MINUTES OF MEETING Wednesday, February 11, 2015 City Hall, 7:00 PM 1. Call to Order a. Statement of Authority b. Roll Call – In Attendance: Chairman Steve Allguier, Cindy May, Brian Rhoten, Jessica Fitzgerald, Eric Schlitzer, and Marge Wolf. Jeff Degitz, Carroll County Department of Recreation and Parks, was an invited guest. 2. Approval of Minutes a. The Commission approved the minutes of the November 19, 2014, and January 14, 2015, meetings. 3. Old Business a. Jeff Degitz discussed the plans to extend the Bennett Cerf trail to the community pond on the Random House side and up to the Carroll County Times building on the Route 27 side. The County will be providing additional tree plantings along the trail. b. Jessica presented the draft material being developed on the web site, including the map of the park, the location of the trees and the narrative accompanying each tree. Bartlett will be placing 2 inch by 2 inch UR codes on the trees from the Dog Park to the Random House parking lot. A brass plaque will be posted at the entrance to the trail in time for the grand opening on April 24 which is National Arbor Day. Brian Rhoten suggested that we invite Random House employees to the Arbor Day Celebration. c. The Commission approved inviting Dr. Gilmore to address the Tree Workshop. His fee is $3,000 plus expenses for hotel and airfare. Bryan will extend the invitation and Jessica will make the necessary arrangements. 4. New Business a. None 5.
