Westwood Shade Tree Committee Approved March Meeting Minutes Date: March 16, 2021 via Zoom Meeting Opened: 6:34pm via Zoom Present: Casey Christopher Jodi Murphy Fred Rella Jeff Ocher Excused: Beth Staples • February Meeting Minutes: Motion to accept the meetings from last month - Casey Jeff Seconded. Motion passes. • Jodi and Fred talked to Rick Woods- 23 plantings requested. We should order 25 trees for Spring planting. Which is the max. $3000 for 25 trees. Rick requested 411 be called to check/mark the gas lines. • April 13- second Tuesday next meeting scheduled • Hold on door hangers until the weather is nicer. • Arbor Day-You have to do the Proclamation and the Celebration is optional as one of several elements that need to be accomplished to be a Tree City USA. Last Friday in April 4/30 is Arbor Day Westwood’s celebration will be on Saturday 5/01. Eastern Red Bud was suggested by Fred. Fred will write the Proclamation. • Woodcliff Lake Proposal to participate for Ash Bore insect - reduce price if other municipalities join them. We agreed Fred would reach out and learn more. Do we have Ash trees in our 7 parks and public areas? We cannot spray on private property because you cannot use municipal funds to improve private property. Fred suggested that the WCL Shade Tree representative join our next call so we can ask questions. • Meeting Adjourned at 7pm EST Casey motioned. Jeff Seconded. Motion passes.
