Members present:
Margarete Albrecht, lnez Andrews, Sue Kilmer, Mary Moore, Jeanne Riggs, Lee Wells and Librarian Sara
Schieman.
Visitors:
Lindsey Ogle, library staff was present.
Librarian's Report
covtD 19 Uodate: As ofJu ly Ltt, masks are required by patrons in city buildings. Library staff must wear masks
and gloves when dealing with money or public papers. Curbside is continuing along w¡th lim¡ted patrons in the
building. Everything is moving forward with the approved reopening plan.
Librarv Staff: Assistant Librarian, Carla Hickey retired. All other staff have returned, but one part-time
Circulation Clerk and that position is open, but not being filled at this time.
Monthlv Statistics: Sara shared a comparison of monthly statistics* for April, May and June of 2020. Notably
the library numbers increased greatly from April to May, due the library shutting down and the limited
reopening. From May to June there was a big increase due to the summer reading program and the library

being allowed to open for limited numbers of patrons. Digital usage was high, as to be expected.

Programs & Activities: Sara shared all planned events are virtual on Mabel Fry's Facebook Live. lt has been
very successful with positive feedback. Patrons have been encouraged to post pictures of what they have
done while participating in the various program activities. Sara updated the board on all events for Baby Story
Fun, Preschool Story time, all elementary and young adult programs, as well as adult programs.
Budset/Fundine: Friends of the Libra ry book sales resumed for June 6 and June 20 with them meeting on June
22.The library received a St,000 CARES Act PPE Grant from the Department of Libraries for masks, hand
sanitizer and plastic keyboard sleeves. The budget passed.
Other: Unique Management collections will be on hold for now. lt was shared that The Yukon Progress
promoted the library's successful plan for serving its patrons during the Covid Pandemic.
New Business
The Long-Range Plan was revised with Mary Moore motioning to approve and Jeanne Riggs seconding the
motion. Also, there was a motion for the future Board meetings to be scheduled for 4:00pm instead of 5:30.
This was motioned to approve by Lee Wells and seconding the motion was Margarete Albrecht.
