The City of Yukon Park Board met for their regular meeting on Wednesday, June 17, 6:00
p.m. at the Huckaba Bldg., 532 W. Main, Yukon, OK.
Roll Call: (Present) Joe Edwards, Chairman
Joe Baumann, Vice Chairman

Others Present: Jan Scott, Andrea Griffin, Quincy Rinkle

Item 1: Approval of the minutes for June 17, 2020
Cathy Wright moved to approve the minutes from June 17, 2020. Jason Hammett seconded
the motion.
The vote: Ayes: Edwards, Baumann, Nelson, Wright and Hammett
Nays: None
The Vote: 5-0
Motion Carried
Item 2: Special Event Application
Tim Rhodes attended meeting for consideration of the use of Sunrise softball fields to host a
uniform fundraising tournament for the Oklahoma Athletic 2026 team on September 18th-20th.
He discussed some of the guidelines such as an in & out gate, 2 larger fields, not back to
back games, no temp fencing, wipe down dugout and restrooms. Majority of teams are
USSSA and they have signed an agreement of liability. Eight to ten teams are possible.
Item 3: Sports Leagues Updates
Quincy stated the baseball fan base was down. He had spoken with Jarrett Kellough who said
not many concessions are being sold. Jan stated horseshoes will host a tournament.
BMX has a big race this weekend, July 17th-18th. Stephen Nelson announced soccer games
at Taylor Park have been great, appreciated the use of Spirit League restrooms.
Item 4: Summer Programs
Jan shared that that even though attendance was down in the park for July 3rd & 4th,

music and fireworks were enjoyed by those who attended and several public parking lots
were full of spectators.
Crowds have been good for the Thursday evenings Concerts in the Park. The two food trucks
have served attendees well. Concerts will continue through August 6th.
Quincy informed the Board that YCC has offered and will continue to offer specialty 3 day
limited attendance camps, such as Culinary, Lego, STEM, Fishing, Art, Multisport and
Theatre Camps.
Friday Fun Days are in full swing offering Kids Annual Turtle Race, Little Anglers Fishing
Derby, Summer Dog Show, Junior Boot Camp, Backyard Family Fun, Croquet Day, Mud
Games and Cool Inside “Improv” Show.
City Splash Pool is open though we were unable to open Kimball Pool due to lack of
lifeguards, this late in the season. Splash Pad’s control panel was “fried” in last week’s storm
and we are currently looking at surge protectors.
Item 5: New Business
Joe Edwards recommended the City to move forward on a surge protector for the Splash
Pad, Jason Hammett supported the suggestion. Jan said she would put this in an agenda
item for next month.
Item 6: Open Discussion
Jason Hammett stated had a blast and enjoyed Freedom Fest.
Cathy Wright Thanked staff for their hard work for Freedom Fest, parks looked beautiful, food
trucks were busy and looking forward to Fall and getting past Covid.
Stephen Nelson said parks looked good and fireworks looked good from afar, spoke about
drones and Federal Laws in regards to fireworks.
Joe Baumann said good job on Freedom Fest, still good music even though not the OKC
Philharmonic. Taylor Park parking lot is looking good.
Joe Edwards echoes sentiments of the board, kudos to the park staff for working hard on
Freedom Fest. Car show was great!
