MABEL C. FRY PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD MEETING MINUTES
January 19,2022
Members Present: lnez Andrews, Margarete Albrecht, Jenah Hamilton, Sue Kilmer,
Mary Moore, and Jeanne Riggs.
Minutes were read and approved.
Librarian's Report:
Covid 19 update:
Keeping with city policy, social distancing is not required but recommended in the
library. Meeting rooms remain at half capacity with programming hybrid.
Staffing:
Marcia Newhardt was hired as temporary, part-time circulation clerk on November
1., 2021. Trisha Knous, Bridget Renkiewicz, Kylie Maxwell, and Courtney Winkler
continue taking Public Library Certification classes as offered by ODL.
Monthly Statistics: October, November and December 2A2t statistics were
provided.
Programs and Activities:
Decisions about any participants on-site will be made on a program by program
basis and will be influenced by the City/State's Covid case numbers. Fall programs
were offered hybrid (small, socially distanced in-person programs with a virtual
option).
Children's Programs:
Baby Story Fun was held on Wednesdays, September 8 at 10 am and also
December 8.
Toddler Story Fun was held Wednesdays, September 8 and December 8 at 10:30
am.
Preschool Story Time was held on Wednesdays September I at 11:30 am and also
December 8.
Elementary age programs consisted of: "Pumpkin Monster Pudding", "Lego
Master's Junior", "Simon Says, Play Games", "Catapults", Christmas Crafternoon",
and "Help the Gingerbread Man Escape".
outreach:
Still no outreach at this time. Book talks only.
Tweens:
Grades 4-7 No Tween Programs at this time.
Young Adult Programs:
The following programs were enjoyed by grades 6-L2: "Lego Masters", "Star Wars
DaV", "Cards Against Humanity Library Edition" and" DIY Wrapping paper".
Adult Programming:
The following programs were "Crocktober", "Holiday Cooking", "Holiday Game
Night", Cookie Decoratingi:OL" and "Pumpkin Seed Poinsettia Craft:"
Page Turners Book Club meets the second Saturday of each month with Zoom
offered.
Outreach:
Books are delivered to homebound patrons at Residences at Yukon Hills and Surrey
Hills Estates.
.Fundraising and Budget:
5t+,+92 was received from an ODL grant for RFID tagging system and Tech Logic
will be the vendor. A desk and touchscreen monitor for a self-check station will
also be purchased.
Ladies Library raised S3,538 from the Silent Auction in November and Friends
continue to have book sales each Lsrand 3'd Saturday of each month.
Other:
The library is adding Gale Legal Forms database and eliminating Gale Business and
Peterson's Test Prep due to lack of usage.
Old Business: None
New Business:
Election of Officers was held and lnez Andrews will be the Chairman of the Board.
Sue Kilmer takes the Vice Chaírman position and Lee Wells wíll become secretary.
