 Yukon Park Board Minutes Regular Meeting Wednesday , January 20, 2021 6:00 P.M. Huckaba Building 532 W. Main The City of Yukon Park Board met for their regular meeting on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. at the Huckaba Bldg., 532 W. Main, Yukon, OK. Roll Call: (Present) Joe Edwards, Chairman Joe Baumann Stephen Nelson Absent: Cathy Wright Jason Hammett Others Present: Jan Scott, Andrea Griffin Item 1: Approval of minutes for December 16, 2020 Stephen Nelson moved to approve the minutes from December 16, 2020. Joe Baumann seconded the motion. The Vote: Ayes: Edwards, Baumann, Nelson Nays: None The Vote: 3-0 Motion Carried Item 2: Covid effect on events, programs and cancellations Due to Covid, the annual Sounds of the Season, Mayors Breakfast, Daddy Daughter Dance, Chocolate Festival were cancelled. Programs made for smaller groups, 8-10. Christmas in the Park was an overwhelming outdoor success, with new displays, selfie stations, ice rink and train rides. Item 3: Possible Dog Park Mayor Shelli Selby was unable to attend tonight’s meeting to further explore a city dog park area. The Board and Jan discussed possibilities of location, equipment to be offered, fencing and lighting for the park. Jan will do pricing and present information at February’s meeting. Item 4: Staff Reports/Programs/Personnel Jan reported we’ve had facility closings and or personnel with Covid or quarantining several times at the Yukon Community Center and Jackie Cooper Gym. Zach Buseman will take Tyler Kilmer’s position at Jackie Cooper Gym as Supervisor and Tyler moves to be the City’s Athletic Director. Zach’s position as special event assistant has been advertised, with interviews to follow. Item 5: Chisholm Trail Park Report P. O. Overall they both said the parks looked good. Item 6: Park Grant for Ranchwood and Freedom Trail Parks Joe Edwards spoke of the progress taking place at the new Ranchwood inclusive playground, such as concrete work and equipment, asked questions about timeline for Freedom Trail Park renovation that will include a splash pad. Item 7: New Business Stephen Nelson asked Jan what where the guidelines for February’s Park Board meeting which will be the annual sports agreement renewal. Stephen asked about limited number of people allowed in room, have them wait in car, zoom etc. Jan said she’ll speak with Doug Shivers at City Hall in regards to open meeting regulations and let the Board know what is decided. Item 8: Open Discussion Joe Baumann - Thanked staff for doing a great job, looking forward to a new year and hopefully activities and events will recover this year. Stephen Nelson – It’s a New year, new possibilities time to regroup and move forward and build up the parks and programs. Joe Edwards - In looking back over 2020, thankful for outdoor events that were permitted to make life seem somewhat normal, this gave us time to catch up and breathe.
