Yukon Park Board Minutes Regular Meeting Monday, February 22, 2021 6:00 P.M. Huckaba Building 532 W. Main The City of Yukon Park Board met for their regular meeting on Monday, February 22, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. at the Huckaba Bldg., 532 W. Main, Yukon, OK. Roll Call: (Present) Joe Edwards, Chairman Joe Baumann, Vice Chairman Stephen Nelson Jason Hammett Cathy Wright Others Present: Jan Scott, Quincy Rinkle, Andrea Griffin, Adam Scott, Drea Shouse, JoEllen Clawson, David Montgomery, Ken Ryel, L.J. Rowan, Erick Robinson, Carl Mason, Amanda Pendleton Lee Clark Item 1: Approval of the minutes for January 20, 2021 Joe Baumann moved to approve the minutes from January 20, 2021, Jason Hammett seconded the motion. The vote: Ayes: Baumann, Nelson, Edwards, Wright and Hammett Nays: None The Vote 5-0 Motion Carried Item 2: Consider approval of the lease agreements for the following sports organizations A. Yukon BMX use of Ta ylor Park BMX track from March 3, 2021 through March 2, 2022 . Joe Baumann moved to approve the Yukon BMX agreement and seconded by Stephen Nelson. The Vote: Ayes: Edwards, Baumann, Hammett, Wright and Nelson Nays: None Vote 5-0 Motion Carried P. O. Box 850500 Yukon, OK 73085 T: 405.350.8937 F: 405.350.7677 www.cityofyukonok.gov B. Yukon Horseshoe Club use of the City Park Horseshoe Cou rts effective from April 19, 2021 through October 1 , 2022. *Note: No tournament on July 4 th of the Freedom Fest activities/fireworks. Joe Edwards moved to approve the Yukon Horseshoe Club agreement and seconded by Cathy Wright. The Vote: Ayes: Edwards, Baumann, Hammett, Wright and Nelson Nays: None Vote 5-0 Motion Carried C. Central Oklahoma RC Club use of Taylor RC Track from March 3, 2021 through March 2, 2022 . Jason Hammett moved to approve the Central Oklahoma RC Club agreement and seconded by Joe Baumann. The Vote: Ayes: Edwards, Baumann, Wright, Nelson and Hammett Nays: None Vote 5-0 Motion Carried D. Yukon Soccer Competitive/Recreation Club use o f Ranchwood Park/Taylor Park soccer fields from March 3, 2021 through August 31 , 2021 Cathy Wright moved to approve the Yukon Soccer Competitive/Recreation Club agreement and seconded by Jason Hammett. The Vote: Ayes: Edwards, Baumann, Hammett, Wright and Nelson Vote 5-0 Motion Carried Item 3: Spring Events/ Program Reports There was no Daddy Daughter Dance , Chocolate Festival or Taste of Yukon this year. The City is having the Trout Fish Out on Saturday, March 6th from 8:00-11:00, Dale Robertson Center Pond. Spring Break Camp will be March 15th through March 19th and there will be Yukon Senior Games , April 12th –April 16th Festival of the Child , on Saturday May 1st. Both YCC and JCG are now open Saturdays 10-4 p.m. and Sundays 1-4 The City had one water pipe break at DRC, flooded kitchen pantry, capped line and deep cleaned pantry. Item 4: Staff/Personnel Reports We now have job postings for the newly formed Yukon Athletic Association (formerly known as Yukon Optimist) Include Gate Keepers and Field/Facility Coordinator and Umpires. Tyler Kilmer’s new title is Yukon Athletic Director and Zach Buseman replaced Tyler as JCG Supervisor. P. O. The baseball fields in good condition but upgrades are costly, the City is currently seeking bids. Item 5: Park Board Inspections- City Park Joe Edwards stated it seems like everything is in pretty good condition but asked if tennis court renovations will be in capital improvements this year. Another concern is about the duck/geese poop and Spring nesting, being protective of their eggs on playgrounds and how can animals be removed humanely. Quincy said he has done some research and there may be broad spectrum lights that bother the water fowl and they’ll leave. Item 6: New Business Park Board members were able to look at some examples of equipment for the possible dog park Jan Scott researched. Further evaluations are needed. Item 7: Open Discussion Cathy Wright had to leave at 7:00 and Joe Baumann left at 7:45. Stephen Nelson Will be glad when winter is over to get out and enjoy the parks, outdoors in general. Jason Hammett apologized for his absence at last month’s meeting. He said he’s disappointed in the City’s decision to fence/place cattle, horses out on the Frisco’s land which was voted on previously and failed as a future sports complex. He’s ready for Spring and to enjoy the outdoors with his family. Joe Edwards commended the City for its handling of the ice and snow on streets. Glad city is trying to run baseball, tennis courts are still in bad condition. Jan stated they did get a quote of $58,000.00 to refurbish courts.
