Yukon Park Board Minutes Regular Meeting Wednesday April 21 , 2021 6:00 P.M. Huckaba Building 532 W. Main The City of Yukon Park Board met for their regular meeting on Wednesday April 21, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. at the Huckaba Bldg., 532 W. Main, Yukon, OK. Roll Call: (Present) Joe Edwards, Chairman Joe Baumann, Vice Chairman Stephen Nelson Jason Hammett Absent: Cathy Wright Others Present: Rick Mattox, Lee Atkins, Jan Scott, Andrea Griffin Item 1: Approval of the minutes Wednesday,April 21, 2021 Joe Bauman moved to approve the minutes from April 21, 2021, Jason Hammett seconded the motion. The vote: Ayes: Baumann, Nelson, Edwards and Hammett Nays: None The Vote 4-0 Motion Carried Item 2: Consider approval of The Yukon Christian Athletic Association Rick Mattox spoke in regards to having 6 teams ready to play May 5, 2021 through August 31, 2021 and if they have enough join, they’ll come back for fall league approval. Stephen Nelson made the motion to approve the Yukon Christian Athletic League’s agreement to use Hilcrest Park from May 5 2021 through August 31, 2021. Joe Baumann seconded the motion. The vote: Ayes: Baumann, Nelson, Edwards and Hammett Nays: None Motion carried Item 3: 2021-2022 Budget Jan stated to the Board there is only $900,000 for capital improvement, so improvements will be restricted. Sales tax is down 8%. (No new dog park etc.) Focus will be on new Fire truck, water meters and other City wide necessities. The Highway interchange looks good and the project moving well. Item 4: Grants/ Spring Events/Programs We will have our outdoor Festival of the Child, Concerts in the Park, Summer Camp and Friday Fun Days. Only City Splash pool will be open this year and swim lessons will be held there. Kimbell is closed due to costly repairs needed from ice storm damage. P. O. Item 6: Park Board Inspection Hilcrest Park Hilcrest Park was inspected by Joe Edwards, Joe Baumann, Jason Hammett and Stephen Nelson. They found swing set missing a swing and needs a coat of paint, bleachers old, with rusted areas but usable, West dugout was muddy and needs to be cleaned up. Parking lot needs to be restriped. Equipment by south dugout not stored properly, as there is chance of injury. Item 7: Open Discussion Jason Hammett is excited for warmer weather, looking forward to Summer Events and glad we are busy. He disappointed in the budget. Stephen Nelson said “cudos” to the new playground. Soccer and BMX parks have been busy with people glad to be outside. He is disappointed in our budget but we’ll work through it. Joe Baumann said new the playground looks nice and he is looking forward to Summer Events. He might try the bike trail event. He’s glad to see City is getting back to somewhat normal. Joe Edwards is sad about the budget but realizes it could be worse and we’ll work through it. Happy to see our parks being used so much for outdoor activities.
