Town of Zionsville Metropolitan Board of Police Commissioners meeting memoranda for April 16, 2018. Present: Vice President Josh Garrett, Commissioner Bryan Traylor, Commissioner Suzy Nagy, Chief of Police Robert Knox Not Present: President Susana Suarez, Commissioner Matt Carney Call to Order: Vice-President Josh Garrett Approval of minutes from February 20, 2018 meeting. Motion made to accept by Commissioner Traylor, Seconded by Commissioner Nagy and motion passed by unanimous vote. Old Business: None New Business: Chief Knox asked the Commissioners to declare a Sig Sauer Firearm as surplus property so it could be transferred to retired officer Charles Scott Abbott in recognition of his 23 years of service to the agency. Motion made by Vice-President Garrett, Seconded by Commissioner Traylor and the motion passed by unanimous vote to declare the firearm as surplus property. Chief Knox then presented retired officer Charles Scott Abbott with the firearm and a plaque as recognition for his service. Chief Knox presented the Commissioners with the names of 3 individuals for consideration for Conditional Offers of Employment as Patrol Officers within the agency. 1. Nicholas Ruby 2. Austin Holtz 3. Richard Lind Vice-President Garrett made the motion to approve this request and Commissioner Traylor seconded the motion and the motion passed by unanimous vote. Chief Knox presented the Commissioners with five (5) proposed policies for consideration. 1. Policy #102 “Oath of Office” 2. Policy #300 “Use of Force” 3. Policy #303 “Control Devices” 4. Policy #402 “Roll Call” 5. Policy #405 “Ride Alongs” Commissioner Traylor asked who was authorized to administer an “Oath of Office” regarding Policy #102. Chief Knox and Town Attorney Heather Willey explained that any person of authority may administer an Oath of Office. Vice-President Garrett made the motion to accept the proposed policies, Commissioner Traylor seconded the motion and the motion passed by unanimous vote. Chief of Police Knox then updated the Commissioners on the Body Camera program at the Zionsville Police Department.

Public Comment: Adjourn Meeting: The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Zionsville Metropolitan Board of Police Commissioners is scheduled for May 21, 2018 at 8:30am or immediately following the Zionsville Town Council meeting in Room #105 at the Zionsville Town Hall, 1100 West Oak Street, Zionsville, Indiana.
