Town of Zionsville Metropolitan Board of Police Commissioners meeting memoranda for June 18, 2018. Present: President Susana Suarez, Vice-President Josh Garrett, Commissioner Bryan Traylor, Commissioner Suzy Nagy, Chief of Police Robert Knox, Captain Robert Musgrave Not Present: Commissioner Matt Carney Call to Order: President Suarez Approval of minutes from the May 21st, 2018 meeting: Motion made by Commissioner Nagy, seconded by Vice-President Garrett, motion passed by unanimous vote. Old Business: None New Business: Review of Policy updates on proposed policies: Canines, Homeless persons, General Orders, Field Training, Electronic Incapacitation Devices, Critical Incident Stress Management, Air Support, Bicycle Patrol, Administrative Communications, Use of Force, Supervision Staffing Levels, Subpoenas and Court Appearances, Standards of Conduct and Child Abuse. Discussion was had regarding Canine policy wording and Chief Knox agreed to change the word “apply” to “petition” as it pertains to a K-9 Handler requesting to keep the canine after the handler is no longer performing handler duties for the Zionsville Police Department with said canine or the canine is retired from active duty. Motion was made to adopt the presented policies (with modification to canine policy) by Commissioner Nagy and seconded by Vice-President Garrett. Motion passed by unanimous vote. Captain Musgrave then presented newly hired Patrolmen Nicholas Ruby, Austin Holtz and Richard Lind to the Commissioners and read their bio’s. Captain Musgrave then gave the Commissioners an update on the current hiring process being conducted by the Zionsville Police Department. Public Comment: None Vice-President Garrett made motion to adjourn the meeting and Commissioner Traylor seconded. Motion passed by unanimous vote.
