MEETING MEMORANDA

Members Present: Elizabeth Hopper, Josh Garrett, Jeff Papa, Tom Schuler, Kevin Spees, Susana Suarez, Bryan Traylor

1. OPENING
A. Call meeting to order

2. APPROVAL OF THE MEMORANDUM OF THE June 5, 2017 REGULAR MEETINGS (copy posted).
COUNCIL ACTION: Councilor Garrett moved to approve the Memoranda of the June 5, 2017 Town Council Meeting.
Councilor Suarez seconded the motion.
The Memoranda of the June 5, 2017 meeting was approved by a vote of seven in favor, zero opposed.
3. REQUEST TO SPEAK
There being no Request to Speak cards submitted, President Hopper requested that anyone wishing to speak on any issue please
step forward at this time. No response was given from the audience.
4. OLD BUSINESS - None
5. NEW BUSINESS -
A. Consideration of an Ordinance Vacating Portions of Public Right-of-way Within Zionsville’s Corporate Boundaries
ORDINANCE #2017-06 (PUBLIC HEARING)
Deputy Mayor Mitro reviewed Ordinance #2017-06 and answered questions from the Council.
With Proof of Publication for a Public Hearing noted, President Hopper opened the Public Hearing for comment.
With no public comment, President Hopper closed the Public Hearing and called for discussion or a motion.
COUNCIL ACTION: Councilor Spees moved to introduce Ordinance #2017-06 on first reading. Vice-President Garrett
seconded the motion. Ordinance #2017-06 was introduced on first reading by a vote of seven in favor, zero opposed.
6. OTHER MATTERS
Mayor Haak noted that this would be Councilor Papa’s final Zionsville Town Council meeting. He then read a proclamation
declaring June 19, 2017 Jeff Papa Day in the Town of Zionsville. The proclamation outlined Councilor Papa’s considerable
achievements and honors and recognized his dedication to the Town of Zionsville. Mayor Haak thanked Councilor Papa and
wished him well in his next endeavors.
Police Chief Robert Knox presented Councilor Papa with a plaque from the Zionsville Police Department in appreciation of his
many years of service on the Zionsville Metropolitan Board of Police Commissioners for Zionsville, Indiana. Chief Knox thanked
Councilor Papa for his service and guidance.
On behalf of the Council, President Hopper presented Councilor Papa with a donation to the not-for-profit organization YETI, of
which Councilor Papa is President, which raises funds to sustain its orphanage and orphans in Nepal. President Hopper thanked
Councilor Papa for his years of service and dedication to the community.
Councilor Suarez expressed her appreciation to Councilor Papa stating that the Councilors had specified that the donation to YETI
go specifically towards the Jeff Papa YETI Scholarship Fund in order that his legacy would continue for generations to come
Councilor Papa thanked all for the recognition and expressed his appreciation and admiration of his fellow Councilors, the Town
staff and the citizens of Zionsville.
7. ADJOURN
COUNCIL ACTION: Councilor Papa moved to adjourn the meeting and Councilor Traylor seconded the motion. The motion was
approved by a vote of seven in favor, zero opposed.
The next regular Town Council meeting is scheduled for Monday July 17, 2017 @ 7:30 AM in the Zionsville Town Community
Room.
(Please note that the July 3, 2017 Town Council Meeting has been CANCELLED).
